Prayer orientation

I would venture to say that most of us pray in such a way that we talk to God about where we are now, the struggles we are in now, the pain we feel now, the gaps we see now etc.

I would also say that I believe God knows all including the purpose for the present. The purpose of the current struggles that are preparing you for the future He has in mind for you.

So if God is always molding, shaping, growing, and preparing you for your future, let me ask this question….What if we shifted our prayer life to be future oriented? What if instead of asking why this is currently happening, we ask what it is preparing us for? Ask what we need to do now to be prepared for where we will be in the future.

My family, and I have been through so much that I have grown to where I am done worrying about the now because my faith is 100% that He is sufficient for me in all ways, and that He works every single thing in some kind of way to our benefit.

Have faith. You may not know why, but God does. You may not know how, but He does. You want to know how you find out that God is a very present help in trouble? You get in trouble that you can’t see any kind of way out of, and then God shows Himself to be the way maker. You get sick, and He shows Himself to be the healer. Finances? There’s nothing to worry about, God can make money fall out of a fish’s mouth if He wants to. You may have to face a failure in an area you don’t WANT to, but God knows you NEED to in order for you to see what He sees. Instead of worrying, look forward to the future and seek to understand ‘what’ because God knows, and He just might reveal it to you. Not why am I going through this, but what is this preparing me for?

God’s heart is for you, and my heart is for you. Walk by faith not by sight. He’s got you.

Do you feel like you are suffering-a few scriptures to encourage you

Suffering is certainly not a current buzz word such as prosperity, authority, or abundance etc. However, it is something we will contend with while we live in the flesh on this earth. Be encouraged for God is working things to your good.

1 Peter 4- Therefore, since Christ has suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same purpose, because he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, so as to live the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.

1 Peter 4- 12 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you; 13 but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the revelation of His glory you may rejoice with exultation.

1 Peter 5- 10 After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.

Again be encouraged in your suffering for God himself is perfecting, confirming, strengthening, and establishing you even as I type this!!

Time- a constant

James 4:14 “You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.

Time can be defined as the progress of events. A constant of moving forward. Your life is one of those events. It started at some point in time and it is constantly progressing towards another point in time when it will end. Time never stops for a rest, it never slows down, it only proceeds forward seemingly faster and faster.

I challenge us to be less stressed about time in the sense of productivity, (we’ve all seen the multitudes of books on how to be more efficient/productive) and be more intentional about time in the sense of purpose and fulfillment. Take the time to find your purpose, so that you can work in something that will bring fulfillment. Working your life away doing something you don’t like doing to have a rich retirement will never fill the void of unfulfillment because money can’t buy it. Retiring early and rich without fulfillment just means you die before you stop breathing. We are meant to be imparting rich pieces of a fulfilled life into the next generations all the way up to our last day. Retirement should not be a day that working ceases, it should be a day that our work transitions. A day when instead of jogging out onto the field, you stay on the sidelines and coach.

James 4:15 “Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that.”

I believe the Lord wills that we find the purpose He created us for, and to live out a life that fulfills that purpose as well as inspires, and imparts to the next generations.

Encouragement for inner turmoil

What causes inner turmoil? That internal struggle and pain? I think one of the things that causes our inner turmoil is our expectations. We dream and picture things, but what happens when it doesn’t go that way, or it costs you much more than you expected? If you do not respond correctly you will experience turmoil. However, belief that God truly will work things out for your good can save you from a lot of that turmoil and agony. We dislike the process and struggle now, but on the other side after you have been processED (changed) you can say to yourself it was good that I was afflicted.

God is blessing you, and who He is making you out to be. God isn’t blessing what you do as much as He is blessing who He created. You may not be able to look around right now and see how you will get out of your current circumstances, but God is blessing you in every circumstance. Sometimes the blessing doesn’t feel like blessing, you have to wait until you get through it to understand that He was using the circumstance to bless you. Don’t give up on who God says you are because of how things look right now. Keep building toward your future.

“Dream it, believe it, write it down, and with the Lord directing your steps walk until it’s real.”-Levi Lumm

Get your mind right!

Romans 12:2 New International Version (NIV)

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

Ephesians 4:23 New International Version (NIV)

23 be made new in the attitude of your minds

Conform means to comply with the rules, or standards. Do not comply with what life does to you, what the doctors say, what people say, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. You don’t have to comply with any of those things, you can comply with the Holy Spirit who is greater than anything else that can come against you. You begin to be transformed when the things and people of this world can no longer steal your peace and joy.

You begin to be transformed when the attitude of your mind says this is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it. I will means you have decided to rejoice and be glad no matter what happens.

If you don’t get your mind right, everything you invest in yourself will fail because of a weak mind, or leak out (even pour out) of a mind that refuses to change. If you want to lose weight, get stronger, read the bible more, overcome low self-esteem, overcome lack of emotional control, whatever it is first get your mind right. Your body likes spinach, but your mind will tell you it likes donuts. The word of God is alive and powerful in the things you need to understand, but your mind will tell you it doesn’t have time to read it. You have to get your mind right. Just like you can have the will to rejoice and be glad, you can have the will to eat spinach, and study the word of God. (hopefully you can connect to those simple examples)

Get rid of envy, blaming others, blaming your childhood, pettiness, unforgiveness, etc get all of that poison out your mind. It is only hindering you, and wasting your precious time. You can’t afford to waste another year with an old mentality. You have to step into your moments with a new mind. You have to have a new perspective and way of looking at your situations and circumstances.

If you are letting people, things, expectations, whatever keep you from rejoicing and having peace you are wasting time being miserable. Let the past go, let the words go, let the hurts go, let it all go, forgive and go. Don’t waste another year, be transformed by the renewing of your mind. If you have Jesus, and you are still struggling, you can have a complete metamorphosis right now. None of the junk in the old mind is worth hanging on to anyway.

As a man thinks so is he. The devil doesn’t have to manifest, beat you up, and bind you in chains. He just has to chain your mind down with stress, worry, envy, jealousy, pride, low self-esteem, anger, pettiness, etc. If he can chain your mind, he can chain all of you. He can make you physically sick just by making your mind sick.

Today is the day for you to be transformed and free.

Setting your mind free will set your life free. A transformed mind = a transformed life.

From Luke 6

A wise builder dug deep, and laid a foundation on the rock and his house was not shaken.

Foundations aren’t flashy. They don’t display the beautiful modern design, and concepts. Foundations are work. Foundations require blood, sweat, and tears. Your foundation work does not bring you recognition, nobody compliments you on your great foundation work. So why dig so deep, and spend so much time on the foundation? Because life is going to try to shake you, but because you took the time to dig deep you will still be standing when the storm passes.

Everybody wants to skip the hard work, preparation, and pain. Everybody wants to focus on the flash, flair and attention, but these things can not with stand the storm. If you will take the time to dig deep, sweat, fight through, cry, and bleed, when you get to where you are going you will be able to hold it down, withstand the test of time, and you won’t let anybody take it from you.

If you skip the hard work, preparation, and pain only to work on the flash you will get to a place you can’t handle. You may get there, but you won’t be able to bear the storms of where you are at over time. You will throw it down and quit, or let someone come in and take it.

When you have worked for it, bled for it, fought for it, cried for it, learned through it, when it has cost you a piece of you, no devil on another level is going to take it from you. Work, prepare, withstand the pain, and build your foundation now because when you get to the next level you won’t have time. The storm is already there waiting on you; however, a wise builder has no worry because the storm can not shake you.

Time-a glimpse of my thoughts on it…

Time is a subject that in my heart and mind I’m very passionate about. We only get one chance to live a kingdom first life, and fulfill the purposes of God in our lives. Furthermore, that one chance lies in a limited amount of time. One of the big struggles in my life is not wanting to regret, but at the same time not wanting to jump into something too early. This magnifies the importance of letting Holy Spirit lead you in this life.

Our time is very limited, and as soon as it is given to us it starts running out. You can’t recycle it, refurbish it, rebuild it, custom one-off build it, or create it. You can’t shortcut it, apologize to it, or create a marketing campaign that will convince it to wait on you or allow you a do-over. Even with these things being true, time is being wasted, misused, abused, and traded as if we have some type of control over it.

We have absolutely no control over it. The only control we have is in the way we choose to spend it. Choose now what you are going to do, who you are going to do it with, and where you are going to do it because your time to do so is running out.

Is that what you really want?

It’s easy to look at someone else’s life, and want what they have. You want their money, their stuff, their marriage, etc. However, I would challenge you with this question…have you ever looked beyond those things?

You don’t know what they have endured. You don’t know what they have sacrificed. You don’t know the level of struggle they have been through. You don’t know everything they gave up, and made it through to get where they are.

They may have given up most of their time to a job they hate in exchange for their money, and stuff. Is that what you really want? They may have lost a child, and the only reason they made through was holding each other up, and that is the reason they have such a strong marriage. Is that what you really want?

If you can’t endure like they have endured then you can’t have what they have. Everybody wants to be blessed, and live the abundant life that God has in store for you (which is not the same as what He has for someone else), and there is nothing wrong with that. Just don’t be envious of someone else’s life when you don’t know the whole story.

Desire what God has for you, not what He has blessed someone else with. And don’t sign up for a blessing that you don’t have the commitment to carry.

Some words of encouragement and motivation for you today

Don’t let life change your mind about what God has promised you!

Don’t let hateful people cause you to be hateful!

Don’t let ungrateful people cause you to be ungrateful!

Don’t let circumstances make you second guess what you know God said to you!

Don’t let negative past, and present circumstances shape your future!

Don’t let life, people, or circumstances change your mind about WHO God says that you are!

Faith in action

Your faith in action does the following:

Brings understanding that God created everything simply by opening his mouth and allowing words to come out, and if He can do that then He can take care of you in every way.

Causes you to offer God your highest and best.

Causes you to seek Him, and makes it possible for you to please Him.

Warns you about things not yet seen.

Causes you to walk when you don’t know where you are going because you know He will guide you to your promise.

Allows you to know you will birth what God has placed within you because He is faithful in His promises.

Causes you to keep moving forward when you look at what you left behind and have the opportunity to return.

Brings you out of the test victorious.

Causes you to forsake the visible riches in exchange for much greater invisible riches.

Causes you to cast off fear.

Faith tears down walls, and raises the dead. When you look and see that there is no possible way, your faith reassures you that God is in the business of making a way when there is no way.

“Be on your guard, stand firm in your FAITH, be men of courage, be strong.”
